3,000 miles and 6 months. This filter was on a 2001 GMC Sierra with mostly short trips and a couple long highway trips. Overall it looks good, better than the last P1 I cut open.

It's a very small tear, but didn't seem like it would be enough for it to leave oil unfilter.

If there is a tear at 3K,what would it have been at 4 or 5K that some run filters to?

This is more of a premium filter,it should not have had a tear at 3K.If this was a Fram, there would be some major bashing.

I am using a Purolator Classic now,if a Pure One cant go 3K without tearing, what is a classic going to do?

On the puro type filters I have cut open, that seam in the media is covered by a thin piece of metal folded over it. I wonder if the metal fell off while cutting the filter? A couple of mine did.

Not all Purolators use the metal strip over the media seam.

Used filter looks like it's in typical good condition.

Just hope they use good glue

Another reason why fram paper end caps dont matter much (other than the adbv and bypass valve gasketing centering and fitment)

The glue seems to be very good. The media usually tears before the glue lets loose.
