2022 F150 5.0L coyote 93k miles
in service for 7800 miles

out/off: bulk 5w-30 and Pure Pro Plus 22400

in/on: 1.5 quarts HPL EC30 and 6.5 quarts Valvoline EP HM 5w-30 with Carquest Premium 84502 (pg with silicone gasket.

this looks to be a nice premium guard filter. ADBV was a little stiffer than i’m used to and the “silicone” looks a lot like dyed Nitrile.

Great work as always. Did you see date code? Glad it has silicone adbv too. Thank You for pictures. I’ve officially passed you torch as filter cutter master 🍺🍺😍👍🇺🇸🇨🇦

i don’t believe it was silicone. i think it was just red nitrile. it was kind of firm.

was from a quick lube
Very nice looking filter, especially for quick lube. In absence of proof to contrary (burn test), I'm going with red adbv being silicone. Too bad it got tossed, be interesting to see who is correct.

....... The old Bosch Distance Plus filters had red rubber ADBVs.
Not sure from where that information was derived, but I'm confident the all the BD+ 3323 with red adbv I used were silicone. Perhaps the red 'sealing gasket' was nitrile, but not same function as adbv. Good example posted, https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/cut-open-bosch-distance-plus-d3323-12-487-mi.225803/

Thanks for c&p.

i cut open a lot of filters and feel the ADBV’s of all of them. this one felt like what an ACDelco filter feels like after 6k miles in texas summer. it didn’t really want to snap back to its shape and it wasn’t “soft” like any other silicone ADBV i’ve felt.

There is an assumption on this site that all silicone is high quality - But, when Fram could afford them in the low cost filters - always wondered if they found a cheaper supplier in China …

Yep, the red base gasket on Bosch and Purolators was a red Teflon coating on a nitrile gasket. Only filters I've seen with actual silicone rubber base gaskets are the Premium Guard made filters.
