well its time to change my air filter. been running a napa gold for a while. are the purolator pure one air filters good? like how good do they flow/filter? better or just as good as oem?
Air flow is a function of the air inlet piping far more than the filter element. I'd run this filter if they made one for my truck. Very efficient at cleaning.

The largest restriction in the intake is the throttle butterfly. If the butterfly's not all the way open, any "restriction" upstream is just perceived.

Right. I think he was asking about WOT restriction though...max restriction the air filter can give.
Ive have one in my vic for 2 years now. I really like how the filter is lightly oiled, and it has a tight seal in the air box. I'll be going with pure one again.

Thanks for the input on that. I'm considering switching to the PureOne from Motorcraft and I'm sure you can see I have an '01 Grand Marquis myself. (Don't know if my airbox and filter are the same as your Vic though)

I wonder if the same can be said of OEM for my 5th gen Honda, or if it's really just another brand manufactured as a re-bandaged product for older vehicles, then sold as OEM?
On topic:
I have been considering alternatives to the K&N air filter I'm currently using, if my silicon numbers don't change.
If you can get one, I like the OE motorcraft filters, they seem of very high quality. But we do have a PureONE on the Expedition, seems high quality as well.

I agree. I've used both Fram and Purolator on my Mercury and both appear to be very good filters.
I was at my local advance auto last night..looking at pureone air filters. I have a 98 corolla. The pureones boxes rate thier air filters at 99.5% effieicnt, and the regular purolators at 96% i think i saw. At walmart, the fram air filters, just advertised 2x the dirt capacity, and the tough gurads hade no efficiency rated.
I got a dealer air filter, back in april. It was much better quality than the NAPA silver, made in poland
plus the napa silver air filter, the sie seals, were loose and came off easy.
Ide imagine, the pureone air filter at 99.5% eficiency would be blow even the TG or dealer filters away in and by comparison.

I don't agree with this. I put a pure one in place of an old Fram and the midrange pickup was terrible.
Just like an exhaust system. Cutting off your muffler won't give the power increase even though the manifolds would flow less than headers.
