Has anyone had this happen to them?

Just wondering if I need to be proactive on this. I don't consider myself hard on the transfer case, engagements are usually done while stopped even though engagement on the fly is possible. No towing in 4wd etc. Vehicle is a 2006 GMC K1500. The factory OEM steel clips that are there now look like the right solution, not sure I need the aftermarket part.

You need the aftermarket part. It has a wider contact area that distributes the force out and has less potential to break than the factory setup.

Doesn't matter if you never put it in 4wd. It will happen over time.

Ive read alot on this subject. I believe its a more pronounced problem in 2500 trucks. It looks like a somewhat simple repair, if you can do without a truck for a day or two. I have the NP261 in mine, I just keep an eye on the area where it will potentially leak. This is something I lose sleep over!
