My 2003 PT Cruiser is coming due for a ATF change. At 40k miles I flushed the trans and replaced the fluid with Specialty Formulations synthetic ATF for this vehicle. The trans has performed flawlessly since and I'd use this fluid again only the fluid is no longer available.
Although I used the Mopar ATF+4 on the first change at about 20k miles), I'm considering going to the Amsoil synthetic fluid this time. Depending on whether I go to Amsoil or back to the ATF+4, would it be advisable to flush the trans for a total changeover or just do a "drop and drain" which will replace about 40-50% of the fluid (replaced the trans filter at the first change). At 65,000 miles I've had no problems with this vehicle and plan to keep it for the long haul.
