GM and Ford co-engineered the 10 speed automatic used in the Silverado, F150 and whatever else. If you plan on changing the fluid or having the fluid changed, watch this video starting at 41:44

the 10 speeds were a quantum leap in transmission technology. The problem is there are always teething pains with new technology.

I find it interesting, and a bit hard to believe, that one has to shake a bottle of ATF before pouring it in.

If the additives can separate in the bottle, what's stopping them from separating in the trans pan after the vehicle sits for a long period of time???

Honda's Type 2.0 and 3.1 fluid says to shake as well

If they separate in the pan so long as the proportion of additives are still correct, they will get stirred back in as the pump runs, if you're using only a portion of a bottle of atf to fill the transmission then if they've separated out that could be a problem, if you use a whole bottle I don't see where there would be any problem if they're in poor suspension as the additives will be stirred up by the transmission pump.

Someone who doesn't bother to read the front label on the bottle is going to watch an hour long video?

With the exception of drinks, I pretty much shake any liquid or product in a can/bottle/jar when I pick it up.

No idea why, I just do.
