My old German buddy gave me some older PS Audio gear when I was at his place the other day:

1. PS 5.6 Pre-Amp
2. PS Digital Processor

Seems like really nice gear. I used the SPDIF port on my Squeezebox and hooked it to the DSP, it sounds better than it did hooked up to the old Harmon-Kardon. I have everything running through the 5.6 now and it seems to give a bit better sound stage than the HK as well (unless I'm hearing things....)

You lucky dog - you get PS Audio stuff for free !!!!???
you're probably hearing something real - idk what era of HK stuff you have but newer HK won't hold a candle to PS audio stuff, no matter which era.

Apparently, LOL!! He had it still in the boxes, said he bought it and then never really used it because he had his Marcus stuff that he likes better

HK unit is about 8 years old, just a basic stereo receiver.

Me too. Wiki thinks so as well. Apparently some sort of audio device or app or something. Guess I'm older then I thought...

When I had better hearing I couldn't listen to a Harmon-Kardon setup after a few days. I wanted to like it but it was just not good.

PS Audio was highly respected back then.

Yeah, apparently my phone wasn't too happy with the light conditions in the room, LOL! Pretty grainy

So that AudioPro is your power amp? Is it a pro amp?
don't know much about it - is it musical? (Just wondering as most pro amps that I've heard didn't sound very good for in-home listening...)

Yeah, it's a DJ amp basically. It sounds surprisingly good actually, though I imagine that something more audiophile oriented may sound better

It has some great power output though, which makes movie watching pretty fantastic.

I see - my system based on the Music Hall a25.2 amp is mainly geared towards music, of course...
I've had thoughts/dreams of using it as a pre-amp with a power amp like a Nakamichi PA5/PA7 or a Parasound HCA 1500....
used it once with a mid range Onkyo M282, and it sounded worse than the MH by itself...I guess the power amp section of the MH must be pretty good...

Nice find! I love vintage audio gear, so much more soul than even the nicest modern stuff. But find myself listening to a pair of RTR Digital V Model200's more than my Sonus Faber Cremonas, despite the significant advances in technology benefitting the latter.

The facts are very simple. If it sounds good then it is good. Period.

Even though the 'audiophiles' will argue it to death...

Until you do some A-B-A testing. Years ago I bought some Paradigm book shelf speakers at a fancy store and just for kicks, we tested them against some $20k speakers. At first my speakers sounded pretty good as they took less power to drive, but then with volume equalized, back to back they didn't sound quite so good anymore...
The little paradigm's do sound much better than the TV though so they live on getting beat on by the kids, and there's no doubt that they are best speakers I've ever heard in my living room
