PROTUNE AIO 22500 CUT OPEN

This oil filter and Safety Kleen 0w20 Synthetic was off a GMC Savanna van 1/2 ton we are using for getting parts at Autozone, new tires etc. had 9,000 miles on filter and oil. 38,xxxx on van.

Same oil and filter went back in and on. Way better than Made in Mexico Auto Extra filth.

Digging through rockauto.com they list API (AutoPart International) as the manufacturer of ProTune oil filters.

Idk if that actually means anything

Symbology on the can says "No cut open" ... or maybe it's "Don't eat a sandwich" when changing oil.

I hate to be "that guy" but it's kind of remarkable how we're seeing clean well-constructed filters coming out of China, Vietnam, and other Asian countries. Is it a product of new tooling, better QC, better work ethic, a transition to liveable wages, or a combination of those? It doesn't really change anything; I'm just curious.

My dumb mechanics opinion is this: Since the “thing” hit in 2020; lots of folks just said screw it, I ain’t going back to work. So more USA factories with not enough workers. It is sad that yes filters are going to China. The PROTEC 57060 I will cut and post soon is made in USA though.
