Protection from Tar

Just finished a 7 hr job on the car, now it's gleaming again.
But in a week's time, I'll have tiny little spots of tar ALL OVER the dang car. And in a month, the paint won't feel smooth any more.
Q1: Is there anything I'm doing wrong?
1. Meguair's NXT for washing
2. Claybar for smudging the tar spots, lubrication with meguair's quik detailer
3. Meguair's paint cleaner to remove stains
4. Meguair's #5 glaze for color
5. Meguair's #20 sealant for protection.
Q2: Can I regularly use the paint cleaner? ie once every 2months.
Q3: Is it a good idea to just wash and seal every month?

It sounds like your environment is pretty nasty if the car is already covered in tar specs. I guess the first thing I'd do is find out where the tar (or whatever it is) is coming from and avoid it.

Your process sounds fine and the products are a good choice. I'd go easy on the paint cleaner as its pretty high in solvents if its Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner. Solvents can tend to dry out a clearcoat paint job if used excessively.

Meguiars #20 has very mild cleaning agents in it and would be a safer choice for regular use. You can certainly use it monthly if you like.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yep, I work in an industrial park and we've got refineries and shipbuilders all around.
Trouble is I can't seem to get the tar specks off without using the paint cleaner! It's all over the car so I cannot clean selectively. Anything else I could use?

Well, since tar is petroleum based you're going to need a petro-solvent to remove it quickly. Problem is the solvents will take off your wax in the process.

Paint detailing clay should remove it as well but it'll take more effort and you will ruin the clay bar quickly.

There is no good answer to this I'm afraid. Can you cover your car during the day?

dont know if it will remove the wax but WD-40 will remove tar. alot of people use this to remove stobrun bug and tar stains. after using wd-40 wash it off with some quick detailer and wipe clean.

Yep guess it'll have to be covering the car then. But even the boss doesn't do it to his merc!

Will WD-40 be safe for el cheapo *** paint? It smells rancid!

Yep WD-40 is fine for removing Tar from painted surface. Just follow up with some spray way etc.
