The boys and I could not come to a consensus last night in the shop. So I solicit your input/thoughts on the subject.
We are/have solicited and secured Terry's professional consulting to fine tune our lube choices. Brand/viscosity etc.
The car is finishing up some off season work and will be ready to go in about two weeks. So here are the questions/points of discussion us mere mortals could not work through last night

1. Baseline.Do we get a used oil analysis on the Royal Purple Racing 41 that is in there now? Been sitting for about 3 months. Only being fired up to move around the shop as the work progressed on her.
2. If the answer to the above is no. Do we baseline with a fresh batch of Royal Purple Racing 41 for say 25 hours of engine run time?
3. Do we just drain and change filters between batches of test oil? The plan is to run the oil for 30 hours of engine run time. ( We have a timer built into the console)...and 30 hours is our normal/average maximum OCI.
4. Do we flush between these changes? If so with what?
5. In normal running operation we utilize 3-4 oz's of Auto RX. Would we run our normal Auto RX load in these test oils for accuracy? The question is...we go through all this time and expense to fine tune our lube choices with Terry...then alter the mix by adding the Auto RX as we always do. Gonna be tough to talk any of us out of not running a few oz's of Auto RX in our running mix so I prefer not to go there if you fella's don't mind.

Terry has us ready to start the process with Pennzoil Platinum 10-30. This is an 04 GTO with a 408 iron block..
Thanks for your thoughts on any of the above.
And yes we could just ask Terry but that wouldn't be near as intresting as asking you fella's

Whatever oil you want to test get a VOA of that one and from same lot number would be best case.

Depends what you want to look at used oil analysis is best for "trending"
will not show catistropic falure till it happens.

What ever procedure you run it MUST be the same for all oils tested.

4. Do we flush between these changes? If so with what?

Again flush or not depends on what you want or how emvolved yiou are going to be BUT do the same thing at the same time with each oil for best interpiation.

Run it or not BUT again be consistant other wise all test data will be statiscicly invaid, (sorry no spell check).

be consistant in whatever procedure you like to do and accuyrate in time, miles, load, oil volume and additives if any.
