Propane Prebuy

I would be very leery of this scheme. If prices skyrocket over your buy in price that company still has to buy your propane at the higher price with your lower amount of money. It just won’t work.

Tankfarm is offering me propane for $2.41.
They contacted me yesterday from a contact i had with them from last year. But I can still beat them hence the prebuy and the regular pricing is about 70 cents less but they are good people. Offer a few features etc.

Used just under 200 gallons again this season and that was with the harsh weather just before Christmas and the ~10 hr power outage last month.

My neighbor tells me I should just fill up in July or so well before the harvest season when propane is used to dry corn and beans. I’ll give that a try this year.

Topped our tank with ~375-gal at $1.79/gal with AmeriGas. Usually buy in the summer but price seemed fair enough. I think there's enough uncertainty that I pulled the trigger Mar-31 with delivery last Thursday. I'm still glad that we own our tank.

I have a better company now that does not make me fill mine to 100 percent.

Most here do. I can buy any number of gallons I want to.

I am watching the prices now like you guys.. I will strike..lol when the price gets better.

Also with these guys and I buy heating oil from them too. The price is inclusive. If propane is $1.80 that's $1800 a 1000 gallons and no other charges period. The other guys used to pile on the fees

Is that DixieLand? I've heard they're usually the cheapest of the locals. (I'm "around the corner" from you)

I really need to look into what's involved with acquiring my tank or at least transfer ownership. Our tank was installed when the house was built by Bouldon, but they sold off their propane assets a few years ago to Sharp Energy. Our last fill was at $3.15/gal in February.

Yes, sir you are correct... Dixieland.
So far, their service has been great. You can get 100 gallons of propane if you like no matter the tank.
size. 300 gallons is the best price starting range,

Many years ago, I bought a house, and I was new to propane as we have used #2 heating oil for decades.
Well, I got used up and this company was $4-5 a gallon. One year it was $7 a gallon.

I found two companies to fill it without proof of ownership. They didn't care about fines, I guess.
My tank owner would not deal and sell me the tank.
It was a 1000-gallon underground unit. So, I sent them a $1500 check with propane tank purchase on the memo line
and they called me, and I told them they had two choices... take the $1500 or come get it as I will never deal with you again.
They sold it to me and the following year I paid 62 cents for propane.

Lawyers are not interested in propane tank disputes....
Here is the form I got when I became owner.
Dixieland or any other propane company besides the one you have can give you an estimated
value of your tank. They do last for decades.

About $190. For 100 gallons
But 300 gallons is $509.70 and that will be exactly what you pay even with a credit card...no other fees.

I just called my supplier and ordered a fill-up (will be 200 gallons). Price is $2.85

That's the "best" price, I am a high-volume residential customer and get the best price year-round.
