Does anyone know if pronto and premium guard oil filters are made by the same manufacturer? I have a few Pronto PO2500 filters that I was using on a friends '13 Impala with no problems, but stopped using them due to being unsure if they had the correct 22 psi bypass spec of the AcDelco PF63. Upon looking at the Premium Guard PG2500 (looks identical to the Pronto filter) on rockauto, it shows that premium guard has a bypass of 23 psi. Would it be safe to say the pronto filter also has a 23 psi bypass? I cant find any info on the pronto.

They are probably made by the same company.

Yes, it has the same 23 psi bypass

Go to prontocat.com and put the part number in the part number search tab

I have seen enough differences in the tapping plates between the two brands to say they are not the same manufacturer. Not to say they do not cross pollinate a few part numbers between themselves, but overall I would say each line has a separate OEM.

I have cut open new filters for both and they look different. The PG media looks better in my opinion and appears a bit thicker. The pleats are also more uniform on the PG filters. The PG metal filters ends are a dull finish and the Pronto's are more shiny. Just my observations.

Hello. I personally am becoming a fan of the Premium Guard. Decent filtration, great price, and all the posts I have seen cut open show good construction.

+1 for PG
I have used a few cartridge PGs in the lady's jeep and the media and seams always looked great. I since have got a few lined up for my Camry too. They seem to be a great deal. I also use the premium guard cabin air filters.

I think they're mainly sold to jobbers/shops and independent auto parts stores
