Prius towing capacity

Yeah but just think how charged his battery's going to be coming down Grapevine Hill!

When it's obvious your over your payload......you will get pulled over by the Police!

Can the police enforce towing capacity though? Might look like a bad idea, but police enforce the law, not common sense or ideas.
It actually takes a DOT police with scales to even enforce it on big trucks. I think the cop may have him pulled over for lights because I doubt they have a pigtail kit for a Prius but towing capacity?
I'd tell the cop go fish.

So apparently someone thought this would be a good idea.

Just for Pop Rivet's benefit, we are not talking about eating @ mcdonalds.

Remember towing requires torque, which the prius has....

Any rig that is obviously unsafe can be pulled over. Not following the car manufacturers instructions (which for small cars usually are not to tow anything) makes it not road-worthy.

Yeah here's another pic. The tongue jack is dragging on the ground too.

Meh, if my 1977 MG Midget is rated to tow 2000 pounds, a Prius should be able to handle that with no trouble.

I'm only half joking, the owner's manual for an 1800 pound car with 66 horsepower does indeed show a 2000 pound tow rating. No mention of needing the trailer to be equipped with brakes.

So let me start by saying and I probably don't have to...Not an import guy.
Don't like anything Toyota has to offer. Not saying they make bad stuff, just saying it is not for me.
I like my GM stuff. I like MoPaR stuff.

So three years ago I saw this at the Costco in Silverdale Wa. Was doing just fine. Had helper springs and bags. He had come from Iowa as I recall. Now you know I tow with a huge a.. 3/4 ton truck because when towing I like to be over vehicled as opposed to under vehicled. This is good practice, but in the rest of the world they tow with a lot less. So without further ado here it is, your moment of Zen.

I can picture him not being able to stop. Rearending someone with that setup and ending up the the jeep upside down on top of his prius.

You mean Honda Gold Wing motorcycles can tow though-right?? What's the towing capacity on a Honda Gold Wing or Harley Road King??

The point being if you are obviously in an "unsafe condition" a cop can pull you over. You don't need scales to ascertain such.
