I have a HP printer HP PSC 1401 All in One and the printer panel lights up but when I request print...it does not work. It doesnt pick up the paper and stays quiet. Any suggestions for me to try. Thank you for your help.

Try dumping the print cache, or reloading the drivers

Try the HP universal PS driver.

Click on that, then click on your OS, then click the PostScript driver. It rare that the universal one doesn't fix it.

Is it being detected on USB?? Do you get the chime at connect/disconnect?

I have a similar printer. Sometimes I will need to restart the computer, then it will print. That usually happens when I cancelled a print job and tried to print another one.

When the power goes off I have had to unplug the machine to reset it. Then plug it back in. Otherwise it would not print.

That was the problem..Once restarted all was OK..We lose power every so often in nasty thunderstorms.
