print spooler trouble after update

anyone else having this problem? updated windows vista yesterday and now I can't print a darn thing.

moicrosoft help is useless. all patch fixes form the net don't work.
I've reinstalled the driver; Updated windows again; restarted, edit print spooler properties. nada.

Vista 64 and HP 1020

I also had this problem at work today but IT solved it remotely )took them 4 hours). same errors, so think it has something to do with the latest and greatest update from our dear leader.

These are some suggestions, don't know if you've tried these yet, no guarantee if it will work for you or not.

Delete the printer and re-add the printer from the Printers and Faxes.

Change printing options/drivers. In Printers and Faxes, right click on the printer, choose properties, goto advanced tab, try selecting a different driver from the driver drop down it there are other drivers listed, and/or try selecting the option to print directly to the printer instead of spooling.

Change the port to one of the other ports. In Printers and Faxes, right click on the printer, choose properties, goto ports tab, check one of the other ports in the list.

It is a USB printer so can't really change the port?

roll back using system restore to sometime earlier when they worked?

Try downloading the diagnostic utility from HP and see if that helps you troubleshoot
