Previously, one napa model filter was not preferred due to type of bypass valve, or bypass-adbv combo. Which napa model was it? Thanks!

The Napa Pro Select and now also the Napa Silver Series use a nitrile 'combo valve' design. The combo valve combines the bypass and adbv in one unit as opposed to the standard metal bypass and nitrile or silicone adbv.

Some, including myself, prefer the standard separate metal bypass and adbv design to a combo valve design.

OK thanks again. I think you are not alone as I remember reading another members post, just can't remember the user name.

WIX
NAPA gold
Motorcraft
Mobil 1
K & N

Do you know if these filters use preferred design?

Without listing screen names there's more than one here than prefer the standard design. If you google search napa pro select and/or silver series, you would likely find some more information.

And yes, all those listed have a separate bypass and adbv design. In fact, those happen to have majority thread end bypass, which was recently discussed here, but that's another topic. There was 'one' Wix/NG application shown in a Motorcraft 820S application comparison showing it with a silicone combo valve, but that's the only time it's been seen. Latest says they are now dome end bypass.

Anyway afaik, the discontinued Super Tech-now Fram Wally TLE express ecore, and the two Napa's noted are the only ones using a combo valve design.

^^^Yes apparently, "used to have", but lastest postings here show those are now dome end bypass. But bottom line, to answer OP question that afaik that one Wix/NG would have been the one known exception.

Was a pic ever posted here of the silicone combo valve design other than the Motorcraft comparo? If so, I missed it. Possible.

I'm not a fan of any filter with a combo ADBV/bypass valve.
