Any opinions on using Prestone Long Life antifreeze? The product description reads:

Quote:
Prestone® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant is compatible with ANY antifreeze/ coolant – regardless of color – for use in ALL makes and models of cars and light duty trucks. This patented formula provides a high degree of performance durability and carefully balanced protection against temperature extremes and rust corrosion of all cooling system metals, including aluminum.

I've replaced about 1 gallon of the green stuff in my Honda which is recommended to use low silicate coolant. It's been a week but I still have my doubts about it.

The next question would be - is it safe to top off the BMW coolant with this...

They tout that it is safe for any make or model on their website but it's difficult to buy into the marketing hype.

I've used it in my Buick. It's a Dex-clone AFAIK.

I'd use manufacturer-specific unless you flush like I did to get rid of the old Dex.

It is a Dexcool clone. It has 2-EHA in it. Low silicates, high phosphates. I would NOT use it in BMW. European cars call for low Phosphates, higher silicates. You'd be better off with Zerex G-05.

What year is a Honda? Regular green, phosphates, low silicates, no 2-EHA coolant might be what you need.

[censored]. I should have not been lazy and should have driven to a car-Quest store to get low silicate antifreeze that Honda-s call for. Looks like I will be very busy next weekend taking care of this.
