Compatibilities

Has anybody used any of these in a Ford / 2004 Ford Taurus? There is a $15 rebate on 2 gallons unmixed / $11 rebate on 2 gallons mixed, and am wondering whether I can take advantage of it. The specified coolant is Premium Gold. Prestone® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant Prestone® Extended Life 50/50 Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant Prestone® Dex-Cool® Extended Life Antifreeze/Coolant Prestone® Dex-Cool® Extended Life 50/50 Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant Prestone® Low Tox® Antifreeze/Coolant

It's not recommended. Dexcool and the OE G-05 are not similar and any residual coolant will not work well with the Dexcool really. Best to just get Zerex G-05 or the Ford version of it.

Get the G-05. Saving a few dollars now might end up with big expensive headaches latter.

Thanks guys. It's interesting that Prestone claim it is suitable for all cars. People are probably making lots of wrong choices with their cars every day. I think all these rebates are getting to me. I have a stash of Synpower that cost $1 a quart after rebate, I just got a pair of Wagner Ceramic brake pads for $14 after rebate, and I just picked up two Purolator cabin air filters for ~$2 each after rebate. I have until March to find 9qts of MB229.5 at a great price. I'm actually a bit disappointed with myself that I just paid $5 a quart for 15 quarts of Motorcraft Mercon V.
