Has anybody successfully used an ATF with Stop Leak in a power steering system to help slow/stop a leak? I'm curious about using Prestone or MaxLife ATF's that have Stop Leak and doing a Drain & Fill in a power steering system thst calls for DexIII. Thanks.

Tried it. If the leak is on the high pressure circuit, it probably won't do anything. If on the low pressure circuit, replace the leaking hose.
Steering can be kind of important at times especially in a modern heavy car with fast ratio steering and wide tires. For me, I'm allergic to hitting things or oncoming cars while driving down the road. You could get seriously killed or fatally injured (lol). Fix the problem, not the fluid. This is especially true if you're driving in Southern California anywhere near where I drive. There are some problems that should not be ignored and this is one of them.

I'm using Maxlife power steering fluid with stop leak in a 2005 Volvo XC90 and have had limited success. The system had been using around a Litre a year and am now down to around 250 ml a year. The only long term solution to this problem for me is to change out the leaking seals on the steering box. At the moment I'm not prepared to do this, so I decided to try stop leak. I do not recommend this method as is not a long term fix.

Where is your leak located?
IF the leak is a PS system hose connection, a stop leak won't do squat, and the hose and hose fitting would need to be replaced.
If the leak is at the Pump's front bearing seal (where the majority of leaks occur), then the Stop Leak will slow it, but not stop the leak. Eventually the pump will have to be replaced.
I just replaced the PS pump on my TrailBlazer after it started weeping about three years ago.

Calls for DexronIII.... do a couple siphon/refills with high mileage ATF. If that doesn't stop the leak, use Lucas transmission fix(an ounce per quart of capacity or to each quart of ATF used for siphon/refill).
