I am building my own electric pressure washer. (because a decent one costs more than $1k)
I already bought the 220v 3hp capacitor run, capacitor run motor, rebuilt general 2035TT pump, welded up the frame to hold the motor, pump, filters for water and holder for the electrical panel.
Plus I have about 40 feet of very heavy 220v extension cord for my plasma cutter that I can use to extend my reach, so I wont be stuck next to a 220v plug.
I am getting to the point where soon the pump is going to need oil. I remember reading on here years ago that people were putting gear oil in certain pumps to get more life out of them.
I tried searching for it, didn't find anything and cant remember if people were putting gear oil in cat, general or some other brand of pump instead of the recommended 10w30 weight oil.
Should I use gear oil or stick with 10w30 weight oil?
Future plans: stick a gas engine with a general or cat pump on the same frame next to the electric pump unit, that way I can have electric when 220v power is with in reach, gasoline power when there is no 220v source or both when conditions are right.
