pressure washer antifreeze

I know about not wanting the pressure washer to freeze, but has anyone heard of the O-rings drying out causing a problem? Below is a review of some pressure washer antifreeze on Amazon.

This is a must have for those owning a pressure washer. After several years of occasional use, my pressure washer started to lose pressure and power to the point it was no longer usable. I took the machine in to the local garden professional store and had it repaired. They told me that my my O-rings had cracked (there are quite a few of them), because the chamber contained moisture that eventually dried. I store my pressure washer in an outside shed that experiences temperature swings from night to day and summer to winter. The repair man told me I should use this pump saver because it replaces the moisture and leaves lubricant in the machine keeping the O-rings from drying out. I connect the 4-oz can to the pressure washer, get the machine running, and as soon as I see some of the lubricant coming out of the wand, I turn off the machine. The repair man said I should be able to use a can 3 times. I stopped locally buying the pump saver when I found it on Amazon. It saves money and a run to the store.

The Pump Saver product is good stuff. I have used it throughout the years on the power washers that I have had. A can lasts me several years. Bought a couple of cans at Menards a few weeks ago on sale for $3 each. Cheap insurance to keep a pump from freezing.

I plan to do this soon even though my washer sets in the attached garage.

With mine i have a tank in the back of my truck and a trailer with the washers and chems and equipment in it. It gets used in winter and cant freeze. I take the intake hose out of the tank and suck up winshield washer solution and shoot it out of the gun until its blue. Never had a problem for years. When i want to un winterise i take the hose and put it into the water tank and shoot the wwf into the barrel until water comes out. I test the wwf a couple time a week just to make sure.

How can a 4 oz can last more that one winterizing?

when you use the pump saver, you squirt it until it displaces the water and the pump saver chemical (white foam) comes through the discharge. With my pressure washer, it takes about 1/4 to 1/3rd of the can. I only use the pressure washer once a year.

why can't you suck up antifreeze until it come out of the gun?

You can, but the pump saver stuff conditions the o-rings. Not sure how important that is however.
