This is my first UOA running Pennzoil Platinum in this car. Used a Napa Gold filter.

Somewhat surprised at how low the TBN was for only 5K miles. Feedback is appreciated as always!

Pretty well perfect results.

TBN is good for a now 'mid tier' syn oil - basically 'designed' to go 7.5-10k, and it will do thei easily.

Carry on!

TBN does not diminish in a linear fashion, so it's not as low as you may be thinking.

That looks excellent, and you can easily go half again further.

That is a great UOA. BlackStone always seems to have their TBN measurements lower than other labs. You could easily extend this oil. Great wearing engine! Thanks

Matt

Hey - what's up (down) with the Calcium level?

The previous 5-30 PP UOA's had it around 3000 ppm, not 2346...

Thanks for the feedback on the TBN. Working towards a 10K OCI so will try 7.5K and have it tested again.

It was SM.

IMO....PP is a good mid-tier oil....and should be able to do 7500 to 8000K OCI....with a 3.6 TBN.

Currently using M1 5w30EP in my 03' Ford Focus....and a 10,000+/- OCI....but will try PP 5w20 at my next oil change. My OCI will be 7500 +/-.

10K may be hard to hit. Why don't you change the filter and top your oil off and then try to hit 12K? But you should be able to get close this looks good.

I'd say changing the oil filter at 5,000 and topping off would probably get to 7,500 safely with perhaps 10k as a max; but if it's a quality oil filter it's more of a waste there. I say try for 7,500 once and see where things stand. I wouldn't push it beyond that, yet.

I'd guess that changing the filter at 5,000 is a waste. I believe this engine has a good size cartridge filter, easy to inspect when you change it.

Yes! Sounds like a diesel unfortunately....

7.5k seems easy enough with this oil.

Driving style? year?

I'm guessing a 6-6.5 quart capacity here and 3.5L V6 isn't too big for the sump capacity. Any oil consumption?

Hows the oil pipe/hose that feeds the top of the motor holding out? Has it been TSB'd or recalled replaced out already?

90% Highway and it is a 2007. I put around 500miles a week on it.

It was replaced when the car had around 55K miles on it. Seems to be doing fine.
