I've been a long time lurker on this board and this is my first UOA. I guess it's pretty good except for the copper. I have about a year supply of this oil left, so I'll keep using it till it's gone.

5w20 is spec'd for all mazda non-turbo charged engines. I'm not sure on the rotaries.

Yeah 5w20 is all I've used in this car and i'm the original owner. What could be the possible source of excess copper? Surely the engine is fully broke in at 24,000 miles. Should I even worry about it?

Nice to see another Houstonian.

Is this the first run of PP? If so, what was run previously? What oil filter was used?

The copper is not that high at 13, but it would be good to trend it over a few UOAs to see if it goes down, which it should.

This is the 3rd or 4th run of PP. Before that I used Motorcraft 5w-20. It's only had Mazda brand filters from the stealership.

I think this is safely a 7.5k oil. I have an 07 Mazda3. Encouraging to know this oil will run to at least 7.5k.

Running PP 5w20 in my Mazda3 right now with a Microguard ORielly filter. I like the internal cage inside the filter.
I've been running the synthetic during the winters in Iowa and MC 5w20 during the summers.
OCI of about 6500 miles per 6 months.

Very happy with both oils....

Nice to know. Thanks

Unless you're in stop/go traffic a lot, I think you could run PP 7.5k easily. I have an '05 Mazda3 2.3 and I run PP 7.5k intervals. The only UOA I performed came back flawless and showed that I could have run it longer.

PP is still a good price point vs. other synthetics on the market. Try a few more in the 6-7k range and check the trends. TBN will easily support you that long. See if the copper trends down... if not try something else. Good report.
