New or reman, or do you have a very good rebuilder who knows what they are doing.....Paid for a Lee high dollar reman years ago and been pissed off with their warranty replacement ever since..Seriously looking at new boxes including Borgeson.

I put a Bluetop steering gear in my 05 Tahoe back in February. I have put about 8-9k miles on it. I have been happy so far. Price didn't seem bad to me. Around $300. Going rate from what I saw when comparing Autozone and other retailers.

Back in 2003 I replaced my steering gear on my 87 F150 with a reman Cardone. I still have the truck and have had no problems whatsoever with the now 20 year old Cardone.

Lares rebuilt a steering box on an older car for me a few years ago. They were easy to deal with and someone always answered the phone. 10+ years later, the steering gear is working fine.

Is is hard to rebuild yourself? I mean, isn't it just a box with a few parts inside? Not like a transmission with all those gears and stuff.
The issues here are access to the repair parts, and the ability to properly load the gears after overhaul.

I've tried- there is a knack to it I don't have. Also I believe these may have certain wearing areas that the bench builder is not equipped to repair and it's just leaky seals. The oem box was awesome until it suddenly loosened up (didn't leak). The first Lee box done by the original Lee met expectations until the top lid started puking oil- sent it back (after the company changed hands) and haven't been happy at all for the dollar spent. I stopped by my favorite mechanics and asked who they like- they laughed and shook their heads.
