Food for thought; Mopar actually says occasionally that both those fluids are in fact, identical. Its just marketing :P

my 2001 camry came with clear fluid in the power steering reservoir. it calls for "dex type" atf. im beginning to believe that the stuff you have in your 4Runner may be some type of undyed atf. if it bothers you, swap it out with what it says in the manual.

The 04 vibe/matrix came with a amber colored fluid. It was getting noisy on the cold mornings pulling out of the drive so I swapped in amsoil ATF and it is now silent in the morning. Now the reservoir looks "black" unless you hold a light behind it or pull the cap dipstick to reveal the bright red.
