Anyone reccommend this? I've got an 04 Toyota Tacoma Dcab with the V6, and the fluid that's spec'd is Dexron/Mercon III.. am I safe in using Mobil 1 Dexron ATF in its place? I'm thinking about using the turkey baster method to get most of the fluid and then change again in a few months... ???

You're safe. A partial change, using the siphon/refill method, twice a year is cheap/easy preventive maintenance.

I used Red Line Power Steering Fluid on my Subaru (which calls for Dexron III) and it's been fine. The steering seems to require a little less effort now, not surprising since it was probably on the original, 8-year old fluid. I did the turkey baster method, sucking the reservoir dry, refilling, driving for a bit, repeating. I added 3/4 qt of the Red Line by the end, the total capacity is ~1 qt, so I'm satisfied.
