Power Steering conditioner

Has anyone used a product, that bought them some time? Thinking that they probably don't work all that often

My Avalon (272k) has a failing pump and rack. At this point, I am not interested in putting that kind of money into it.

If it is failing, not much you can really do. I have had success with fixing some leaking and noisy power steering racks with the Valvoline MaxLife Power Steering fluid. They were not on Asian cars though.

Yeah, I was thinking of potentially trying Blue Devil or "cough" Lucas.

For 12.00 I might as well try it.

It would be nice if I could buy some time to continue looking, as inventory is low.....but otherwise, it is of no big consequence.

My Tacoma had a steering issue a while back. It pulsated anytime the was moderate load while turning (i.e. slow turns or turning while not moving). I did nothing more than a complete fluid exchange by pulling the return hose and adding new fluid while cycling the wheel. 100% improvement and that has been 5+ years ago. Not sure if the replacement fluid(brand) really matters but it's worth a try and fairly cheap.

I would try any decent synthetic P/S fluid. Fluid exchange.

Odd the pump and rack both are on their way out.

What about used from a pick-a-part place?

What does that even mean? There are half a dozen issues that could effect power steering. If it feels like BOTH are failing at the same time, could be something external. Maybe you just need to replace the belt tensioner that's causing the belt to slip.
