Potential Catastrophic Upper Coolant Hose Problem?

Pardon the drama, as I would say being stranded on the side of the road with a blown hose and steam everywhere is not a calm situation

Here is the history run down. I replaced my original 12 year old UPPER and LOWER coolant hoses with AC Delco boxed replacements. I checked my UPPER hose where it meets the thermostat housing. There was some kind of ooze literally bubbling out of the hose at the ends where you can see the "string holes". It is a dark brown stuff and very thick like a wax. I suspect it some sort of adhesive or sealant? Anyway, I cleaned up the mess and hour later new stuff was bubbling out.

First, what the heck is going on? Second, is this sign of a potential and catastrophic hose failure? I want premium parts and if this continues it looks like stainless steel hoses come next. I know RockAuto will send me a replacement in a jiff but I want absolute reliability and quality not indefinite warranty replacements. Thanks

What did the radiator look like inside when you emptied it (to replace the lower hose)?

What kind of car is it?

Have you replaced the thermostat in 12 years? If not, I would replace it and see if the ooze is originating there. Thermostats have a wax inside them, maybe this is what you're seeing?

I doubt this is a sign of your new hoses failing.

Another thought: did anyone add any "stop leak" to the radiator?

Whatever is inside, how in the world is coming out? The only explanation is that the clamps are not doing their job. May be that is a blessing in disguise because you don't want the ooze stuck inside either!

I doubt it is the hose, but the nipple substrate.
It is pitted an dirty, and not making a good seal.
The clamps may need to be tightened.

But it may be some very odd phenomena with an old piece of rubber. I can't rule that out.
If it is the hose, get new aftermarket ones and return these. Show them the gunk and say they are deteriorating internally from sitting on the shelf.
