It was time to change the oil in my push mower. It gets used by me and my tenants at the house I own next door. It’s probably going on 10 years old and gets annual changes on the “no oil change. Just check and add” briggs motor. Usually it gets T6 5w-40 but I found a leftover quart of moto oil and treated it to some exotic oil. Surprisingly the old oil comes out full of glitter every time, but it runs great.
I can only afford ramen noodles and reuse my toilet paper but my old one cylinder non-turbo .5 HP fuel diluting way over treated with seafoam weeble wabble lawnmower gets the best boutique oil money can buy.
Change of plans - could not find old filter install date …
Blessed Kohler with my last OG XG3600 - it’s much longer and think it can serve for two years !
Did the oil and hydro on the JD 316. Both took on Wix filters.
Old oil was Rotella 15w40 and was in for couple of years. Frankly it could have gone another year. Diesel oil is super juice in this Onan.
In went ~1qt of remaining 15w40 and ~.7qt of 5w40.
The hydro gave up ~5.5+qt of old low vis Hygard and took in ~5.5+qt Amsoil Tractor Hydraulic.
The old had a significant red tint from the Type F that was in there before. So, there are pockets of old that just won't drain.
Really toned down the hydro whine.
I did jack up the front ~8 inches and the draining probably gave up another half cup of fluid.
The thing could use some skin care! These pics make it look dingy!
{ slow steady top-offs from here to get it mid sight }
