Thanks. I love it. It's just now getting broken in 204,000 miles. "Classic Edition". Last run of the body style in 1993. According to the previous owner who wrote Volvo (I haven't researched) only one of possibly 2 spec'd with the manual transmission and factory sunroof of the last 800 models made in 1993. It is my current daily driver here in Cincinnati. View attachment 343753
Hey, my wife is from Cincinnati (relocated her here to Central KY when we got married a few years ago) and my stepson is up there at UC. I had a former coworker who was a huge fan of those. I'll be on the lookout for your "flying brick" next time I'm up that way!😃

2017 Ford Explorer 3.5 N/A
4300 miles, 56620 on vehicle
Out- 3qts Mobil Euro 0w-40, 3 QTs Supertech 0w-20 20000mi
Champ silver filter from RA
In- 5qts Pennzoil 5w-30 HM conventional, 1qt Mobil 1 Vanilla 10w-30
Napa Proformer filter
Still using up odds and ends in the garage, the Pennzoil was from my shelf bought back in Aug 2020. Doesn’t leak or burn anything, been a good vehicle.

2009 new to the family Honda Pilot with 3.5 liter V-6.

Out unknown black oil at 146,000 miles. Castrol jobber filter with pale white ADBV. When I pulled off the filter, no oil drained back from the galleries.

In: 4.3 liters Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W30.
Napa Gold 7356 filter. It’s a PG filter. It measures 2.5 “ in diameter and is 3.5 "long.

The drain plug was torqued way too high and so was the oil filter. Luckily, I was able to get the filter off with an old filter wrench that was really too large but contorted enough to get a bite. A new wrench will be ordered soon.

The clearance to get to the dipstick and oil fill hole is ridiculously tight. I had to place a funnel in the hole and then place another funnel feeding into it. Also, I used a flexible oil thingy to keep the oil from draining directly onto a crossmember.

Enjoy the pics.

what a PITB

2010 Toyota Corolla 1.8 4AT, was my fiancées car but I decided that she should drive the new Subaru and I’ll drive the “beater.” I only have to commute to a trucking yard but she has to drive all over the place for lots of important functions with families and children.

I’m getting it dialed in and up to my standards. Just had front wheel bearings and brakes done, and I still have to tackle a few other things like a seeping transmission cooler line and front struts. I spent three hours blowing and vacuuming mice debris out of the entire HVAC system yesterday. Now the car finally smells good. I need to put a mesh screen over the phone book sized HVAC plenum underneath the windshield cowl.

I’m happy to put her in the newer, safer car. I’ll throw some LEDs and an Apple CarPlay head unit in the Yota to make it a little nicer for myself.

OUT: Some sort of bulk 0W-20 @ 260,000 km
IN: Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W-30 @ 269,122 km

Going to run this car on 10,000 km intervals too; same as the Subie.

2008 Cadillac CTS
First gen 3.6 (LY7) non-DI

Last Aug ’25 @ ~60,000
Today June ’26 @ 66700

I did need to top up a half-quart recently. Typically I stick to tighter 5k intervals and haven’t seen it low before. I do exercise it a good deal so a half-quart over almost 7000 miles doesn’t seem too terrible.

Driving is a mix of puttering around town with some solid 200+ mile highway runs as I travel back and forth from Charlotte to Atlanta frequently.

2017 Mazda CX-5. Out. High Performance Lubricants No-VII 5w-30, filter removed Amsoil Ea15k12.
Oil in for 2 years, 2 months. 13k miles. 49,900 miles on vehicle.

I have some High Performance Lubricants premium plus 0w-40 that's been sitting on the shelf for 4 years or so and I need to use it. So in it goes. I do like no V-II for DI engines. But I need to use this.
Filter is a microguard select.

Between oil changes do you ever have to top off your Mazda?

Didn't get photos this time :(

My wife totaled her Mazda 5. We just picked up a 2009 XB (181k miles, 3 grand)

Out: unknown clean oil
Toyota filter

Soon to be filled with (in the next 20 minutes)
VRP 5w30
Microguard select filter

Did a piston soak overnight because these things drink oil (apparently) and there is no evidence the piston ring repair was ever done

Just got done with a drain and fill of VRP ATF as well. The old fluid didn’t look so good and I chatted with Valvoline before I did that. They said VRP would work great in this transmission. We shall see.

If it doesn’t I have WS ready to go

Also changed the plugs the PO said he just did (which was a lie). 3 out of 4 required no wrench to remove and all 4 were the wrong plugs. I’m honestly surprised it ran as good as it did

Just need a bottle of VRP Fuel System Cleaner to complete the job ;)
Ummmmmm

I did put some high mileage VRP fuel cleaner in it with a full tank of Chevron 91 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

I’m not even a huge fan of of VRP but I know it works very well for its intended purposes. I figured why not with this new (to us) car with a questionable history

It was cheap and in good shape so we took a chance on it
