Post your latest oil change

just changed the oil on my Daughter and Son in-law's 2025 HRV..they previously had free oil changes at the dealership but had used the last one. holy crap..only people to change oil in this car was the dealership and they had changed it 3 times...pull it up on my ramps and oil all underneath the splash panel. pull the splash panel and notice one screw missing..the filter is dripping oil...clean up the splash panel with brake cleaner....wipe the underneath down where oil has been getting coated for who knows how long...(5000 miles on the the oil change) freaking dealerships who try and tell you that you need to have them service your new cars.....anyway Honda oem filter and Mobil 1 0W20.....and sent them on their way. oh and at least the filter was not over tightened like the drain plug lol..
Good catch. Gotta love it.

One thing for sure...if something had happened to the engine and the vehicle was brought in to the dealership...they would have vehemently denied it was their fault...as they insist every car that left their shop was checked over by a certified blahblahblah

Over 20 years ago my wife brought her new Subaru Outback sedan to the dealership for a free something or another...next day she noticed knocking from the front...brought it straight to the dealership and they said one wheels lug nuts were loose...when informed the car was in their shop yesterday...the back room thing happened...I showed up and one thing led to another as they insisted every car that left their shop was checked over by a certified blahblahblah...when one of the losers from the back who stay hid most of the time came out...she told me "how do we know someone didn't loosen them? Maybe your wife has a enemy" My response was...car is housed in a garage at night and kept behind a secure chain link fence at a federal building which everyone can see from the office...and it was in your shop yesterday.

Never been back to that dealership willingly since...except one time 10 years ago when another Subaru was towed there as the closest dealership since a belt broke at 6k miles and it couldn't be driven...I'll save that story for another day...same BS though. They still have the cute ads on tv and clever signs but they still are known as scumbags...but still in business as all the folks who move in don't know the truth.

Automakers and their dealership networks are for the most part various levels of pond scum. I have had great dealerships years ago which were family run and cared...unfortunately most get sold off to these car superstores which brag about 8 dealerships in the tri state area etc and thats when service declines and scams go up.

Thats why I have done and continue to do the vast majority of work on my cars today even at my age.

As an aside...that particular Subaru was kept for 16 years and other than the head gasket issues and timing belt replacements...it was a solid car. So no long term damage but it is the principle of the lies and BS dealerships go to claim no responsibility.

2008 CR-V LX 4 banger Mighty K24, 72K, 5K OCI
Out: Quaker State 5w30
In: Mobil 1 5w20; left filter

Headlamps pretty cloudy. Used cheapo kit to make 'em better. Need to spend some time or maybe just replace them.
32 PSI. All fluids look good. This is the cleanest older CR-V I've ever seen.

2011 Hyundai Santa Fe with 111,000 miles. Mobil 1 Euro 5w40 with a fram titanium oil filter I had in the stash (I don't typically use Fram not sure how it got onto the shelf). I use the euro 5w40 because it's basically a thick 5w30 and the 2011 Hyundai theta II engines are notorious for catastrophic failure particularly after 100k miles. So far so good.

Does anyone outside of a lube tech change more oil than @JeffKeryk ?

Good decision. Do you burn any oil?

Coworkers 2018 daytona charger 5.7 HEMI, 69,000 miles.

Out: Supertech full synthetic 0W20 and protec wix filter, about 4500 miles and 4 months.
In: 5 quarts Mobil 1 high mileage 0W20 and 2 quarts Supertech 0W20 and same protec wix filter. Oil did not smell bad or gassy this time at 4500 miles as it did the previous change I think it had 6,000 or so miles on that change it smelled terrible.

My friend's Wisconsin VG4D industrial 4 cylinder 30 HP on a 9" brush chipper
Out: Rotella Synthetic 5w40
In: almost 5 qts Chevron Delo Semi-Syn Diesel 15w40, left NAPA 1106 filter for next time. Dang thing is $40

This was the 2nd service since he got it in Jan of this year; I serviced it then. Oil was not too dirty for diesel. Rotella is good stuff.
This engine is incredible. Perfect for this kinda work; low rpm torque monster.

I also used my bore scope up the drain hole. Unfortunately, I kept getting oil on the lens and the front sump arrangement and the presence of the windage tray makes getting any decent pics pretty difficult, but it's spotless in there, unsurprisingly:

Many grease fittings! Valvoline red grease.

Oil came out like new and I found out there's only 6 hours on this oil change. Customer requested it!

1997 Thunderbird 4.6 liter.

Out. Valvoline 10w30 white bottle. Removed an Ecogard x4651

Put in Formula shell 5w30 syn blend, installed a new Ecogard filter
Changed oil in this earlier.

Out with the shell and Ecogard.

In. 2.5 quarts Pennzoil platinum 10w30 and then 2.5 quarts of Pennzoil 10w30 conventional and then a half quart of Supertech 10w30 synthetic to bring it up to the full mark.

Installed an MC820s filter

I Changed oil in my 2017 Ford Fusion 2.5 yesterday. The car now has 200,000K and the only part that has failed besides consumables was the drivers side front strut thrust bearing. I changed it out myself (even though I'm now 81) and I was a little sore the next day. Imagine that! Lol. I ordered the Monroe Quick Strut from Rock Auto. I did my usual 10K OCI and there was no oil consumption. The engine still looks like new down the oil fill hole.

Old oil out: Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage 5w30

New oil in: Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage 5w30

Oil Filter: Mobil 1 M1-102A

2018 Mazda CX-9:

Out- Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30/Mazda Filter
In- Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30/Premium Guard Filter (4th interval)

Drained out the 3rd interval, just shy of 5k miles. Oil was subjectively dark. Happy to report zero oil consumption on this change. Prior to Valvoline Restore and Protect, engine burned no oil. 1st oci it burned 3/4 qt, 2nd was 1/2 qt. Ring cleaning perhaps? Got some fill hole pictures, which look good, doesn't add any data; just for fun.

97,931 miles.
