Post your latest oil change

Changed the oil on my brother's '21 Kia Soul. 2.0L Nu engine. 145,000km on car. OCI? Good question. Car said service overdue by over 3000km, Mr. Lube sticker said overdue by about 1000. As if that isn't enough the oil light came on about a month ago. It was running over 2L low! The startup clatter was unbelievable.

Oil out: Whatever was left of the oil Mr. Lube put in and the 2.5L of Super Tech Synthetic of makeup oil.
Filter out: OEM (does Mr. Lube even use OEM Hyundai/Kia filters? I suspect they might have not changed it)

Oil in: Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w-30
Filter in: OEM

I didn't see any glitter in the oil and engine runs smooth and quietly.

Mr Lube does offer a selection of OEM filters for an extra charge

Daughter's 2003 Ford Focus 2.3 Duratec ZX5

170.8k Miles (6k OCI)

I'm wrestling with crankcase ventilation issues, after changing out the PCV Valve/Hose, still struggline (will pull IM again to check oil separator, should have done it while there but didn't have a gasket and didn't want to risk it)

Calls for 5w20, went up to 5w30. Mobil 1 high mileage full synthetic (pretty reasonable at Sam's club for the box of 6 quarts).
Mobil High Performance Filter (Heavy Duty, Extended Performance) 20k warranty

But, before I pulled my old stuff I threw in some liquidmoly engine flush. I've never tried the "magic" cleaners but for a teenager's car that I have very little sunk into it I figured why not? (we got it for 2k and other than maintenance, I've only had to replace the cracked windshield, a warrantied alternator and the sway links were shot)

When I did the plugs, I saw the valve covers were leaking so I cleaned that all up, I'm hoping the 5w30 may at least somewhat slow that process if I can't figure out how to vent the crankcase worth a darn :(((

2019 Ford F-150 S-crew 4X4 2.7 EcoBoost

Out: Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W-30
Wix WL10050

In: Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W-30
Supertech ST11955

The reason for the switch to the Valvoline Restore and Protect (first time using it in any vehicle) I put my bore scope down the oil fill just to get a look at things and to see if there was any varnish or sludge buildup, and there was some minor varnish accumulation on the cylinder head and the cam phasers and some brownish sludge accumulation on the underside of the oil fill cap. This engine has had a mix of CostCo Kirkland Signature, Quaker State Full Synthetic, and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. We are the second owners it was a lease trade-in that we picked up in November of ‘22 with 65,000 miles, I’ve put about 32,000 miles on it and have been performing the oil changes myself around every 5,000-6,000 miles. Been using either the Wix WL10050 or Motorcraft FL2062A from RA or the Supertech ST11955 from Walmart.

I also collected a sample of the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and sent it in the mail to Blackstone for a used oil analysis. I’ll post the report when it is received.

15k Miles on the 2025 Powerboost F150

Only ~3700 miles on the oil, but I'm ok with that. In the winter this engine barely gets up to temp most days and with the stop/start is probably taking a beating. 19mpg Average is simply because we tow a lot with the truck and that eats fuel.

2004 Ford Escape 3.0 v6. 239,000km and 12k on the Super Tech 5w30 synthetic. There was close to 1 litre of makeup oil due to the leaking cam pulley for the water pump. In went conventional 5w20 Co-op Elite. I am not changing the filter as it is a Gram Ultra and can handle it.

Super Tech 5W-30 synthetic is a good oil. I asked all 3 AI's: OpenAi, Gemini, Claude to do a deep in depth analysis of all data sheets and all available info on the internet. It's not made from recycled oil, and it's a group III full synthetic.
