Rare frankenbrew cycle for me - consolidating stash to Valvoline Restore and Protect for 2, 12+ year old cars.
Out: 0w20 Valvoline Restore and Protect
In: Frankenbrew Mobil 1 High Mileage 0w20, Valv HM, Valvoline Restore and Protect
In: STP XL filter (element only style) picked up as part of combo sale. Compared to Denso, I'd describe the filter media as more "pressed synthetic spider silk", Denso filter appears more papery.

MityVac'ed out the earl, then pulled drain plug. Nothing come out; not a drop. Bone dry.
Needs an air filter next time. This old girl is still in service; some make up oil was added.
I told my friend (single Mom, 4 kids, works 2 jobs) this is the last year. Will start to look for something.

2018 Mazda CX-9:

Out- PP, Super tech filter
In- Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30, Champ XL Filter

88,112 miles. Had used Valvoline Restore and Protect on previous oil change then life happened and had to have someone else do it, hence the PP. Going to use it at least 3-4 intervals. Should have taken a photo of the old oil color as a baseline but forgot. Looked normal visually, unlike the one Valvoline Restore and Protect oci that was definitely darker.

Just prior to changing the oil, I also used CRC valve cleaner for first time which went well despite a good portion leaking out of straw and me not noticing 🤦. Seemed to help the idle.

At what point did you go to 5w30?

Just completed the second OCI of Valvoline Restore and Protect and beginning the third. This engine seems to like the oil. I might be imagining things, but it seems just a little bit quieter than it used to be.

My 11yo stepson ended up doing most of the work while I watched. :) I even got my 9yo stepdaughter to come outside and learn a couple of things. Success!
