2004 Toyota Camry XLE 2.4 I4 291,175 miles, 2,800 on old oil.

Out: 5 quarts of Valvoline 5W-30 MaxLife High Mileage
Off: Fram TG4386

In: 5 quarts of STP 5W-30 High Mileage
On: Fram TG4386

We decided to go ahead and change it since it was dirty and the maintenance light was on. We typically do right at 3,000 but 200 miles early won’t hurt anything one bit. The STP oil I got off a customer at work who bought the wrong one. You can’t beat free oil even if it’s not normally something you would use. I wouldn’t give Auto Zone full price for that oil or any oil but it was free so I’ll take it in that case. I normally just go to Walmart or work and get whatever brand is on sale or available as my Walmart is usually out of everything. That brings me down to 7 quarts of 5W-30 time to restock haha. Down to 3 oil filters too which I will probably start getting genuine Toyota ones after these Fram run out because I don’t want to put a short one on it. And yes this car does call for 4.0 quarts of oil but we always put 5 in because it uses a quart about every 2,000-2,500 miles and we have to top it off.

Oil usage has not really gotten any worse in past 30,000 miles, but have switched from Xw-20 oils to 5w-30.
Not really sure if it makes a difference in these 2AZ-FE motors.
This motor is supposed to be one of the "updated" ones and is not covered under the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty (although I am past the time for it anyway).
While I am not happy about 1 qt use every 2,500 miles, I know it could be worse, and if it stay at this rate, I can deal with it.
My daughter knows to (and does) check her oil every 1,000 miles or so to make sure it is not too low, and there is a spare qt and funnel under her hood for when it is low.

Very good sir. Are you going to cut the filter apart for us to see? 😛😛

Mileage: 310,000
Mileage on oil: 4900 (9 months)

Out: Mobil 1 5w30 SH rated (from deep in my stash) Motorcraft filter

In: German Castrol 0w30 (green) (also from deep in the stash). I only have 5 quarts of GC green/gold left. Napa Gold 1516 filter

I did find something interesting when I checked my air filter. Some small birds that always congregate around my truck in the driveway left me a surprise.

Daughters 2015 Honda CR-V Touring.
58,000 miles. She bought it from the little old lady who only drove it to the grocery store and church on Sunday that everyone has heard of. Had 11,000 miles on the odo in 2020 when she bought it, car is immaculate!
Burns zero oil.
I stick to a 4,000 mile interval with synthetic 5w-20 and always a new filter. Definitely overkill but the interval I've used since I was a kid with my first car and habits are hard to break.
