This is the second oil change I have performed on the Explorer. At 40k I am going to use Motorcraft Filter FL-500S and I am going to approach the parts department about Motorcraft full synthetic price point but if they can't get down to around $30 for 6Q I will stick with the Mobil 1 5w20 for $30 from Walmart.

2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. This OCI had about 4500 miles in service. OLM was reading about 45%. Figured I would go ahead and change the oil while I was doing some other repairs on the car.
Out: Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30 with a Fram Extra Guard filter.
In: Castrol GTX 5w30 with a Driveworks filter.
Old filter looked great with no rips or deformities unfortunately I did not get a picture. Made the switch to conventional for this OCI too.

The oil level was almost at the minimum mark at the time of the oil change. It will be interesting to see what effect Mobil 1 will have on this.

In use for 7 months, including a few months of storage. I drive the car as it was intended to be driven -- spirited, which is why I change the oil more frequently in this vehicle. It does get driven hard from time to time. It was also in use in some below freezing temperatures before and after storage. I forgot to mention that during the time of filling, I only put in about 4 quarts and the car takes 4.5 quarts. At time of change, it was right at the add mark, so it was consistently run a half to one quart low the entire OCI.
