0w-40 was way to heavy for this engine at operating temp. It's running a lot smoother now with the 0w-30 in there

Just picked up a '98 Civic DX with the D16Y7 engine (non V-Tech). Has 165k on it and runs great. Manual calls for 5w30.

-OUT-
Whatever 5w30 conventional oil Firestone Complete Care uses along with a Firestone oil filter.

-IN-
50/50 blend of M1 AFE 0w20 & M1 5w30 HM. Put on a Bosch Premium filter as well.

They use Kendall motor oil. Really good stuff from what I hear..

Did first owner-performed oil change on my 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport / 2.0L 4B11 @ 12300 miles. Went factory fill to 7500k, then free dealer oil change. Engine started to sound a bit more "tappy" on startup so I decided it was time for the dino to go.

-OUT-
Whatever bulk oil the dealer used at my first free oil change along with a Mitsubishi OEM Denso filter MZ690116. I may cut it open to see how well it held up over 5000 miles of mixed driving.

-IN-
Penzoil Ultra 5w-20 and another OEM Denso filter. I can't believe how much time I walked back and forth in the oil aisle picking up and putting down 5qt containers of oil - thanks for dealing with me Walmart!

1977 Buick Riviera 93.9k miles.
Out: unknown oil from 1997 and really rusted Mileguard filter

In: combination of leftover oils for short OCI and Fram.

When filling, oil actually filled valve cover and had to wait to continue filling a few times and oil comes out of the outer side of filter, but inner tube is empty and clean looking. :?

1995 Nissan Maxima (new 'used' vehicle for a family member)

230,000 miles:

-OUT-
Unknown

-IN-
A little over 4 quarts of Valvoline MaxLife 5w-30
+ Bosch 3323 (PureONE clone)

GOAL: Reduce leak from seal not yet identified, that is above the oil pan/filter mounting area(so not on the side with the transmission on this vehicle). This is on the timing belt/water pump side. Hope the seals aren't releasing near the belt and finding a way out of the timing cover.
