I changed sis' car this Saturday, and it just logged the 100K miles mark this weekend.

2004 Volvo V70 w/ 2.5 I-5 turbo

out: Kendal 5w30 Semi Synthetic with 7300 miles

in: 5 quarts of Kendall semi-syn 5w30 + quart of chevron 20w50 + 10 oz Liqui Moly

The manual advised against 5w30 for > 30 Celsius climate, with a definite no-no warning for >40 C temps.

My thinking is the ~20% admix of 20w50 will make this at least better than a 10w30, and it'll be good for the occasional summer 100f heat waves we may see.
