Post your latest oil change

I just changed the oil in my Corvette this afternoon. I had 6900 miles on Ultra 5w30 along with a Fram XG filter. I put the same combo back on the car again. I will be dropping off the sample at Wearcheck tomorrow, so I should have the results by Tuesday night.

2005 ford explorer 76,000 miles 5w30 castrol dino motorcraft filter
2008 honda civic 35,000 miles 5w20 castrol syntec k&n filter
1989 mazda b2200 248,000 miles 10w40 valvoline maxlife supertech filter

3000 mile oci on the explorer since new
5000 mile oci on the civic since new
once a year, less than 3000 mile oci on the mazda since i've owned it (3 years)

1998 Mazda Protege 1.5 DOHC/Auto. 170,8xx miles, OCI: alittle more than 5k/4 months.

Out: PYB 10w30 GF5 (pre-API SN packaging). Topped off during the oil change interval with 1qt Rotella 15w40 and .5 qts of API SN/GF5 10w30.
Taller oil filter was used.

In: PYB 5w30 API SN/GF5 and shorter filter VO54 (the one it calls for/Champ labs clone Valvoline filter.)

Just dumped out the factory fill in the new Versa, 500 miles. I was going to wait for 1k but I figured I'd do it on one of the last warm days left. Good to avoid a winter oil change if possible. : )

Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30
Purolator Pure One

I changed the oil in the Ranger at about 102K miles. I used Mobil 1 5W20. Normally I get Kendall full syn or Motorcraft full syn, but settled for Mobil 1 because I was at Wal-Mart anyway and didn't want to drive to Pep Boys. The filter is an FL400S...one of the newer short ones.

2004 Malibu Maxx 3.5L: 1 5qt jug Valvoline WB 5W30 w/ Purolator Prem Plus filter

2003 F150 5.4L: 1 5qt jug Pennzoil Platinum 5W20 and 1 qt of Formula Shell 5W30 w/ Motorcraft FL820S filter

2008 Cobalt 2.2L 1 5qt jug QS Q-Torquepower 5W30 w/ Purolator Prem Plus filter

2003 Corolla;

-4qts Formula Shell 5w30
-12 ounces Lubegard Bio-tech
-Motorcraft FL-400S filter

60,405 miles.

I also did a drain/fill w/ Maxlife ATF and added 6 ounces of Lubegard Red. I'm testing Lubegard to see if it improves my mileage. The trans/diff share fluid, so if the LR does have friction reducing benefits, it will effect the diff too.

In mid November I changed out the Valvoline Syn-power 10W-30 and replaced the synthetic oil with 6 quarts of Formula Shell 05W-30 with an over-sized K&N # 2009 oil Filter. I did not add any Tufoil to the crankcase since the Formula Shell is loaded with Moly. I will run this oil for 6K miles since my driving is about 70% City and 30% Highway. Lots of short trips and traffic lights in the City driving along with idling. IMO...the Formula Shell should hold up well under these conditions.

1996 Mercury Grand Marquis 176k.
i just got handed this car by my mother in law after she picked up a 2001 Park Ave. with 70k.
this car has had haphazard maintenance.so the first thing i did was check the oil...not even on the dipstick.i gathered up the appropriate material and did the deed.(after being tipped by Bitogers to turn the steering to access the filter)drained out about 2.5 qts of thick ,black syrup.
filled with:
3 qts supertech 10w30
1 qt valvoline 5w30
1 qt fram oil treatment and stabilizer
fomoco filter(mid-size)
car is much smoother and has less valve rattle when accelerating.as to the odd mixture:the fram is in it since it is suppose to boost cleaning and have a lot of zinc.the tech and valvoline were left in our new house by the previous owner.
next o/c may be a mix of 10w30 and 10w40 if the valve rattle does not go away.lol

That is likely not valve rattle (not common on Modular engines), it is probably pinging/detonation. Try a tank of 91 octane and see if it goes away.

Overk1ll is right. My 96 had pinging for a while until I very carefully cleaned the MAF sensor. Problem solved.
