Post your latest oil change

2000 Volvo V70, 125k, 5k OCI. (My Dad’s car)
Out: Mobil 1 0W-40/HPL Engine Cleaner 30
In: Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0W-40
Mahle OC149

ValvoMax quick drain was a big help on this cold day.
Pictures of the filter. The HPL Engine Cleaner is doing an excellent job. Each pleat had plenty of carbon.

My neighbor noticed I was kind of struggling on my oil change. I'm quite elderly with some physical problems that slow me down a bit. The neighbor insisted that I allow him to do the change himself. I declined his offer and he offered to take the car to a dealer and pay for this himself. I finally convinced him that I do not give in to age and other problems and that I VERY MUCH desire to do this as long as I can. I've learned that doing it myself is really the only way I can be absolutely sure of what goes into my car. I want only the best and besides, I actually enjoy doing this myself and I'll do it as long as I can.

Good for you!

2003 Passat W8 wagon (literally one of the most unreliable and expensive vehicles you can own). 129,200 miles (mi). Oil change interval (OCI) 10,167 mi/2 years. Zero (0) oil consumption. Ran a can of Liquimoly Proline Fuel System Cleaner before the oil change. So this is a ~$132 oil change for ~$66/year (filter and drain plug bits are free from FCP Euro). Basically the same cost as using any popular brand from Walmart for half of that interval which most folks would likely do. Use has been basic mixed daily use...some highway/some short trips. Even a few parade laps around VIRginia International Raceway! Also of note, I run a K&N drop-in filter.

Out: 9 quarts (qt) High Performance Lubricants (HPL) Euro 5W-40. Hengst oil filter. Reinz drain plug and crush washer. I did a mid-OCI filter change replacing the Carquest oil filter with a Hengst.

In: 9qt HPL Euro 5W-40. Hengst oil filter. Reinz drain plug and crush washer.

Sample sent to Blackstone. I've done a few other used oil analyses (UOA) on this car early in my ownership to get a baseline; UOA sample results were unremarkable as I'm sure these will be.

When I see you talk about your VWs, it make me want to get my B5 S4 back up and running but there are a lot of things I need to do like, replace the cracked break fluid resevoir, re-register it, put it back on insurance, get it inspected and hopefully pass... Then there are the other issues like upper control arms, headliner, blown turbo, new tires, body issues like cracked front bumper, new paint job and who knows what else...

I still want to drive it again...

B5 S4s are the forbidden fruit. Amazing vehicles but really a tough ownership experience. All the plastics in this gen VAG break easily. Turbos blow on that one. The brake fluid reservoir on my Passat was replaced after I bought it as the shop was afraid to pressurize it to bleed the brakes. I've ridden in a track-focused one at VIR before, amazing vehicles and can hold obscene power plus manual. Truly a brillant piece of automotive engineering..too bad they haven't stood the test of time as well as some others. The wagon version is super cool.

I have grand plans for it, but I also have plans to buy a new bigger house and if I put the money into the car that I want to, I would be divorced!

I do want to do a 6sp swap, much bigger turbos and all the other things that go along with it. In the meantime, I just want to get it up and running while being safe to drive. It is a stage 2+ now and was fast at the time but I NEED more.

The longer it sits the worse it gets. The shop that works on my cars has a B5 S4 wagon sitting rotting away b/c it needs new turbos.

Also, this Passat is an absolute winter beast and that's just on PS4 all seasons...with winter tires not sure you could get a better winter car.

2003 Corolla:

Out- Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30/ Toyota Filter
In- Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30/ Supertech Filter

266,474 miles. This was first interval, which had little over 4,700 mi on it. Oil looked cleaner than I thought it would, bit of a reddish tint. Consumed about 3/4 of a quart which is on par with what it normally does. What went in is the second OCI.

A few more pics to go along with post #25,651 above for chaning my Passat W8 oil today.

Filter had no crud in it, clean. I've been running High Performance Lubricants Euro 5W-40 for 2 years. It consumes exactly 0 oil.

Always good to get under this thing, it's been about a year. Looks like my radiator may have a small leak....not good as these are v. hard or impossible to find. May have to figure out how to get it fixed :(

Tried my new Chinesium special zip ties...wow...much better to secure my somewhat rigged up belly pan. It's not really for the W8 which has many "W8 only/special" parts, it's for the regular B5.5s so the fit isn't exact but it's "good enough" and some of the mounting hardware is missing so these fit the bill.

A few pics. The filters on these is pretty big for a cartridge.
