Post your latest oil change

He's a strange one, even going as far to mixing boutique oils with over the counter oils which defeats their intended purpose. Don't think you can lead this horse to water, even though many here have argued and debated him not to do so.
I'm just honestly curious of what the objective is.

He’s totally ruining the benefits of the boutique oils by mixing them with OTS stuff.

Are you saying Amsoil and Mobil-Exxon never use the same base oil supplier? Never use the same additives suppliers?
The phrase 'strange' can be stretched all over motor oil boards too.

BTW.... the Mobil-1 Euro 0w was used to help quiet the engine from the sole use of the Amsoil 0w in the prior OCI.
It worked and no Oil Scientology Degree was required there. Just 54 years of Practiceology field studies.

This latest oil change I posted here produced better mileage - smoother running engine and quieter sound under that hood.

Changing the oil to something different is mixing oils, because lots remained, even after draining it.
Me, I would just dump in whatever is appropriate, and around. A neighbor gave me a case of amsoil 5W30 last summer, and I dumped a half liter into my F150 to top it up, and my engine didn't seem to care, despite being full of M1 0W40 euro. Then i dumped the other half into the wifes Ram to top it off as well. I don't care, the pickups don't care, so why make a big deal about it.

Mixing oils does not cause problems guys, and you know it.
People have been mixing leftover oils, and topping off engines with different oils since packaged oils came out.
Sad thing is our more senior members KNOW this.
It doesn’t cause serious problems but it really serves no logical purpose. You just don’t know what you’re getting when you mix two different brands of oils.

So the blending is to have majority of an oil with top-notch specs and then to add a little bit of an oil that will quiet down operation at the same time?

2018 Toyota Sequoia, 69,800mls.
Out: Presumably Honda 0W20 (Vehicle bought at Honda dealership. Oil was changed).
In: Castrol Edge 0W30 (German Castrol) and Purolator filter.
Found at Advance Auto Parts new Edge 0W30. Went to drop old oil, and saw they had it. I had 3qt of older version (pink label). Planned to get at Wal Mart M1 0W40 and mix with M1 0W20 I had from when I changed oil in Pilot. However, Castrol was $37 for 5qt + filter.

1993 Volvo 240 Classic, 107,300
Out: Titan Supersyn 5W40
In: HPL HD CK-4 5W40
Mann W917

I will run the HPL for 8k with a filter change and top off after 3k. The engine had more oil consumption than I’d like. .75 quarts in 3,000 miles.

Hopefully the HPL cleaning abilities and higher HTHS viscosity will slow the oil consumption.

And no, I did not pour 6.5 liters into the 4 quart sump. 😉
