This engine seems to run quieter on a 40 weight. With a 30 weight the valvetrain sounds like a bunch of gnomes with hammers tapping on the valvecover.

04' Mazda6s - 6 qts. PU 5w20, M1 filter, 1 yr. OCI.

Had a defective K&N oil filter, so walked to AAP and picked up the M1 filter. Called K&N corporate, and their sending me a new filter.
