Post your latest oil change

E90 N52:
Out: PP Euro LX 0w30, Mann filter
In: PP Euro LX 0w30: Mahle filter

P2 V70 NA:
Out: PP Euro LX 0w30, Mahle filter
In: same as above

Both cars see less than 5k km per year since we started working from home, but I continue to change oil annually for the hell of it. Switched the E90 to Mahle filters after some quality issues with OE Mann filters. The Mahle seems better quality to me, and is made in Austria instead of Mexico. Interestingly, Mahle is the OE filter for the E90 M3 and E60 M5 while Mann is OE for the non-M models.

Could you show the quality issues of the Mann oil filters?

Personal experience: gobs of excess glue on the clean side of the filter, which broke free without any effort (ie would've been ingested by the engine).

Online: reports of the Mann filters bending/deforming, which apparently doesn't happen with Mahle filters. No idea why and hard to believe seeing how Mann is OE.

So why roll the dice with Mann when the Mahles are the same price and seem to be better. Even if the "quality" is the same, at least Mahle seems to have better QC

I’ve never seen those issues…

And Mann is the same as the bmw filters, and I doubt they have issues with them

Yesterday both cars. Saturn Valvoline EP Maxlife 5W-30, Wix 51522 again. First filter I noticed Made in Mexico. Looked about the same except for overspray. Mazda Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20, Wix 57002. First time Pennzoil in this car. Got Ultra at Amazon under $30. First time Wix filter too. Been using Mazda Roki filters up until now. Tempest still good until I start driving it again. We need another good soaking rain to get the salt off the road.

4774 miles on the oil change. Would have waited for 5000, but the wind is too terrible to work outside, so it became a garage day.

I also sucked out the brake fluid from the reservoir and replaced it with Super Tech DOT 3 fluid. I’ll need rear brakes before winter, so I’ll do a full flush then. It was surprisingly brown for my taste.

Also rotated the tires.

Next change will be after our summer venture to CO and back, as well as a trip to my parents in IL, so I’ll be pushing the mileage for the next change to 7500 to account for the highway miles.
