Post your latest engine/cabin air filter change

Standard STP air filter out
Premium STP air filter in

Not entirely sure how many miles on the last filter - my guess is 35-40k. I just can't seem to recall if I changed it a few years ago or not. I have dusted it out, and cleaned the airbox, at least twice.

Probably over paid for it, but decided to get the premium STP air filter this time around. Not sure if it'll make much, if any difference. Compared it to Fram, and some other filters, and it seemed pretty well made. It is lightly oiled paper filter (not like K&N reusable oiled). Supposed to have greater air flow, with just as good or better filtering, due to the oil. Probably marketing, but we'll see.

This filter is rated at 12,000 miles (as are most replacement air filters). But owner's manual says 45,000 per change. I'm sure I'm good going over 12,000. But curious what y'all think about going to maybe 20,000 or more? Trust the filter or the car manual? Or some happy medium.

I just did both the cabin and engine air filters in both my Toyota Camry, and my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Both were fairly quick and easy. This is where Youtube really comes in handy.

There are many posted videos on this for most every year and type of vehicle out there. I found one for my Jeep that easily allowed me to replace the cabin air filter without removing the glove box door. Something the other videos all did.

The best thing is, these videos also show you exactly where to push / pull / squeeze on all of these plastic tabs that lock these doors and covers in place. Without that knowledge you're on your own, and can easily break or crack one of these plastic locking tabs, then you're up the creek but good.

Helped a friend change a cabin air filter on a 2005 Honda pilot. From what I can tell, it has never been changed. Apparently on the 2005, there's a piece of plastic that is in the way, and the only way to change it is to break off that plastic. And that plastic was intact.

And there was a lot of leaves, hair, and other gunk in there that we tried blowing out.

Also, unfortunately, now her gauges aren't working . So not sure if we knocked a wire loose or something. She had what appears to be some aftermarket wiring for a backup camera and other stuff that was loose under there, and a fuse box nearby. Fuses look intact. Gauge lights come on, but none of them move, for speed, RPM, temperature, anything. Anyone have any ideas?
