Post Your Latest Coolant Change.

2009 Toyota Prius. ~12 quarts of Toyota Pink SLLC. My AirLift didn't fit the radiator neck but worked like a charm for the inverter.

1999 Jeep Cherokee @ 165K.
Old stuff out (kinda brown) NOTE: I pulled the lower hose as my drain
Rinse w/water 'til almost clear
Chemical Flush-following mfgr's instructions, ending with distilled water
Wash reservoir
Rejoice over the absence of oil in the cooling system
Change all 4 hoses-a little steel wool message w/WD-40 is all the barbs needed
Watch my frugal neighbor as he happily took the old hoses from the trash-he has a '96
Fill with ~65% PEAK Long Life (5 year/150K) using distilled water
Label the reservoir to warn others against mixing coolants

318 cdi.

out: a two year old mix of who knows what.

Water flush only.

In: 3gal O'reillys extended life universal formula.

Replaced Xerex G-05 coolant after 5 year CCI with Motorcraft Premium Gold.

This was done in February 2012 concurrent with oil change in 2001 Ford Taurus and installed by Ford dealer.

2004 Mercury Grand Marquis

70,072

Out - Unknown (but it has been changed because the hoses have been replaced).

In - Prestone

2003 F350, 6.0 diesel. Out with factory fill gold,(actually pretty clear for 96k and 9 years) 4 fill and rinse with city water, running the engine to temp each time. It drained clear the final time. Drained the radiator, and both block plugs. Replaced the puke tank, upper rad hose, and thermostat. Refilled with 4 gallons of Zerex Cat EC-1 ELC and the rest distilled. This weekend, my Honda ST1300 will be done using Beck-Arnley Premium OE. http://www.beckarnley.com/beckarnley_fluids.swf

2003 GMC Safari, 4.3L V6, 124,326 miles.

Out: What I assume is a Dex-Cool clone; kind of a yellow/green when drained into a white bucket. Unknown mileage on coolant (the reason for the drain/refill).

Prep: Tap water rinse with hose until clear: radiator, heater core, engine block, reservoir.

In: Prestone Dex-Cool (orange) and distilled water.

2002 Camry XLE I4 216k. Drain and fill 4+ qts Toyota Red LLC 50/50 distilled. Do this every 40k whether it needs it or not. No replacement parts for coolant system, all original.

1994 Chevy LLV

Out: My guess is Dex-Clone which was low (drained, filled with distilled and ran with GM Heavy Duty Cooling system flush and it came out as seen below: (Note: pine needles were NOT in the cooling system, they just got rinsed into the bin out of the engine bay)
coolant_flush004.jpg

In: Zerex G-05 and distilled water.

I ran a UOA of the last oil prior to my current interval and there was no coolant detected in the oil.

newly acquired 03 F-150 FX4 Lariat SCrew 5.4L @ 217K miles

-drained green coolant
-filled and drained twice with fresh water
-third fill chemical flush was added and ran for two days
-drained chem flush and back flushed entire system until clean enough to drink(looked that way) with fresh water
-filled with 3 gal's of Motorcraft® Premium Gold Engine Coolant and topped off with fresh water(filtered).

Just got my work car on the road, 92 escort with a 1.9 liter.
Had the system proffesionally flushed as it was very neglected. Out was nasty rusty coolant of unknown age, in went 1 gallon and change of prestone

Another drain and refill on the 02 Silverado to try and get most of the old dexcool out. I also used a vacuum cleaner on blower mode to remove the rest of the dexcool. Not sure how neglected the system is until I change the water pump.

1993 Toyota Tercel - 295,000km

Out: 3 year old Prestone Low-Tox and Bars Leaks
In: Prestone Low-Tox and Bars Leaks

Vehicle has always had a reasonable amount of coolant leakage at one spot between the block and head. I replaced the head gasket at one point but that didn't fix the issue.
Given that it's an old Tercel and it doesn't make sense to fix this, I just put in a bottle of Bars Leaks and that holds everything in for 2 or 3 years before it starts leaking again.

Also ran a bottle of Prestone rad flush through a cycle and then flushed with water before filling with new coolant.

06 Duramax

Out: 5yo 70/30 Dexcool (I was in Alaska for 4 yrs)
In: 16qts Dexcool/9qts distilled water. (lots of flushing w/tap and distilled)

02 Focus
Last change was back in early 08/60k. 105k and 4 years later alot of junk in that coolant. Flushed out the radiator only. May do another flush in the spring.

2000 Civic HX 143k miles

Out: whatever green stuff was in there
In: MotorCraft Specialty Green!

Did 4-5 refills with DI water and idled it and also took a couple drives to do my best at getting all the old who-knows-what coolant out of it. Only needed 2.2 qts of the new stuff, plus DI topoff to get 50/50, so I'll have leftover coolant for a drain and fill in the future (probably with a T-belt job).

Yamaha Spark 135 (Moped)

Out: Maxima Cool Aide
In: Redline water wetter + Distilled water

The 1 year coolant is still as clean as it can get. filled it with Distilled water and 3% worth of water wetter.

Out- factory fill on a 05 Taurus, 67,000 miles.

Serviced at Ford dealer, Coolant flush n' fill

Valvoline flush
Motorcraft fill.
