heres my 1981 Ford Fairmont. 3.3L 6 cylinder, 3 speed automatic. 115,000ish miles. she starts right up every time, gets driven every day, and runs like a champ!

thanks....? what was it exactly that you guys liked?? the smog pump replaced with a horn? the A/C removal job?

That is just awesome....I remember when a college buddy offered me the chance to buy his 1982 Mercury Cougar 4-door with a this exact engine....looked just like this.
I STILL kick myself that I passed on that car. He was practically giving it away, and there wasn't that much that needed work on it.

Stock pulley w/ remapped ECU. Quoted as 275hp/300ft lbs. torque.
Honestly with cruddy street/summer tires, you can spin through 3rd gear. And with T5 tranny, you don't use 1st gear. So no real need to upgrade the pulley (ok, "need" is relative. But not sure how the cooling system would handle spinning the SC faster...already a tight package ). It's already as fast as any racebike I had in 2nd and 3rd gears, and faster around the race track.

When I met my wife in late 70's she had a 68 250SE with gas engine. Thing was a nice driving tank. She did nothing to it (and I mean NOTHING like oil changes) drove it like mad (sadly she still drives that way) and other than rust it was a great vehicle. I started changing the oil and things like that and was just so impressed with the build of everything.
Looking at your steering box in one of the photos. 1 ton trucks don't have as strong of a box!

Yes, it was the CA car. Unfortunately the steering boxes develop about 1" of play in them which is an annoyance. The 82 is the best one I have... My 81 with only 73k has more play than the 82...
