possible bad axle shaft?

this was copy and pasted from a Volvo forum, so if you have any slang questions let me know

there is a speed sensitive clicking sound on decel from teh engine bay. sounds almost like a bad inner cv joint on the passengers side. i have not had a chance to throw my R up on a lift to check closer, however i am wondering is this fairly common? i have a new angle gear that was done around 5k miles ago along with new Michelin PS2's.

also as far as parts availability, i have no problems using a non OEM half shaft especially the ones with a lifetime parts warranty. are there any aftermarket ones out there for our cars? this would be passengers (right) side front with manual trans.

also when turning at higher speeds, such as making a left while squeezing a lemon, there is a howling noise that sounds like it is from the angle gear, could this be a sign of a bad angle gear already?

btw i would rather have a complete half shaft, and not deal with replacing a joint and boot by itself, not worth my time.

on this model theres the transmisison, then an angle gear that the driveshaft is attached to, which then travels back to the Haldex controller/Active On Demand coupling which is connected to the rear end assembly.
