Jiffy Lube when I was in High School.
They installed the wrong oil filter and it leaked oil. I didn't have mechanic know-how or any tools so I had to wait until a Monday for them to fix it. They offered me a free car wash for their mistake and I laughed. I told them a free oil change and they laughed. Then I threatened them with a lawsuit and they gave me a free oil change instead. I told them it was a safety hazard for me and the car.

I've had a couple of minor mishaps with quick lubes (overtightened drain-plug, overtightened oil filter, slight overfill and forgetting a crush washer) but the majority of my experiences were positive. I rarely had someone try to upsell me something unless it was actually needed. I just prefer doing it myself because I find it to be a lot of fun and I like knowing that my car is maintained well and if there ever is a mistake, it's my own self to blame.
+1 what thirdeye say's. i did an oil&filter change, transmission fluid change on my ranger this afternoon. it WAS very enjoyable.
I have had nothing but bad experiences at Jiffy Lube. And that was only three tries (company car, fortunately) and they hosed it up each and every time.
Now I have to give two thumbs up to Oil Express in the greater Cincy area (West Chester and Tri-County). I've used them for both my personal rides, plus my company car. I bring my own oil and filter to them, which they readily accept.
They let me stay with the car(s) and I get to watch everything they do. I always draw a crowd when the "top" guy announces what he is putting into the crankcase, i.e., Schaeffer's, RLI Bio-syn, etc.
They check the old oil filter to ensure the gasket is still intact (and not welded to the oil filter connection to the engine), I don't have to deal with oil leaks after the fact, they give me a credit for my own oil and Wix/NapaGold/PureOne filter, plus a $5 discount for being a repeat customer.
They ask me if I want the air filter checked or the tire pressure checked (I don't) because they know I maintain the cars better than 99% of their customers.
Best of all, they let me bring my Amsoil ATF and use it in their T-tech machine (on the rare occasion it's empty) to flush out that over-rated T-IV and Nissan J-matic from my transmissions!
Are they perfect? Nope. When they changed the Schaeffer's on the Highlander last month, the "fill guy" was too fast with the pouring into the funnel. The 3.3L has a shallow fill hole and I warned him to pour slowly. Fortunately, they were quick to clean off the front of the engine as that 1/4 quart "jumped" back out of the fill hole and ran down the engine.
Their bulk oil is Formula Shell, plus Rotella 5w-40 as the synthetic bulk offering. Their bottled synthetic is all Mobil 1. Most of the guys there tell me they use Mobil 1 with 5k OCIs. Except for the one guy that I share interesting oil stories with. He's an Amsoil dealer. No foolin,' Wally.

Back when I had my Saab 900T and I was using Castrol 20w50 -- before I even knew about BITOG and thought Syntec was the only way to go -- there was a local quick-lube place in Mission Valley, near the stadium in San Diego. Great service, good people, and reasonable prices.
I guess it's called Quicki 10 Minute Oil Change now, it seems as though it had a different name a few years ago. It's at 4232 Camino del Rio North, near the Mission Gorge/Fairmount exit off I-8.
