For those of you who want to take along a portable version of Firefox, email, and many other programs on a thumb drive, check out the link below. No trace of these programs is left on the hard drive of the computer, making it ideal for travelers that use public Internet terminals.

Nice. I like portable applications.

The only problem I have is that portable thumb drive get corrupted easily so these apps need to be backed up somewhere for restore purposes.

I too had those problems until I started using the small icon in the lower right corner of the toolbar on the desktop to stop the drive before removing. Sames goes for USB Hard Drives.

I actually have a shortcut to do that instead of going to the system tray.

To create a shortcut, right click on the desktop/new/shortcut. In the path, type

%windir%\system32\RunDll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL HotPlug.dll

Great Idea! By using either method then removing the USB Thumb Drive our USB External Hard drive, etc., it will prevent problems caused by removing the device.

Pretty cool, SrDriver. I installed Pendrivelinux 2008 last night. Only took a few minutes. It found all the hdwr except the wi fi. Only took a few minutes to find and comfigure that. I actually posted to bitog using firefox within 1/2 hour of unpacking the zip file.

Going to take a while learn all the different terms an acronyms though.

Like what is Samba, or what is a loopfile?

Anyway, I have a new toy to play with.
