Porsche 944 Transaxle Lube?

I am looking for a GL4 Gear Lube to use in my 944 Turbo's Transaxle (transmission & diff in same housing). The Differential is not LSD, so I am not concerned about friction modifiers. Also, GL5 is not recommended by most, as the transmission has bronze gears and something about hypoid blah, blah. The transmission has ~110,000miles on it and has a bit of trouble shifting into 2nd; I believe a synchro needs replacing. Right now I have Mobil 1 synthetic 75w90 in it, and want to go to something better, if possible. Thanks for any advice!

Hi,
perhaps you are using a GL5 now!
A GL4 is recommended but some synthetics now embrace both GL4 and GL5. Check out Castrol Syntrax or Syntrans - read the labels first

I run Syntrax 75-90 in my 928S4

I run syntrax in my Mazda turbo transaxle but Redline MT90 is a far better choice. Just a wee bit expensive here to put in an old vehicle. Only RL of course for my Outback.
