Wife and I were at Starbucks enjoying the sun and I saw a couple of LEOs having a conversation with an informant. I could barely over hear the questioning but he was clearly an informant. The informant looked so miserable. He was nervous, looking around all the time. Looked dejected. I was surprised they were there because the whole thing didn't look inconspicuous.

Poor guy.

Poor guy? There's a chance he's no saint and is being a rat to get out of something.

I presume this was by design. They were squeezing him for something he didn't want to divulge. Being in public added to the fear tactics.

You are the company you keep. 🤷‍♂️

how do you know they were LEO? maybe it was the "your warranty has expired" guys who finally tracked him down....seems very odd cops would be talking to an informant in public. you said you could barely overhear the questioning? what were the questions?

I think it might be a just-happened-right-now situation. I think informants are handled a little more carefully and under controlled . IDK, maybe a forum LEO can offer some insight.

Seems odd that it'd play out like it does in the movies and TV shows. Sure they weren't practicing their lines?

yes indeed. I handled informants for many years and while they were generally not your model citizens and mostly looking to get out of trouble themselves you did not want to burn them or get them hurt or worse. can't imagine talking to one in a public place especially if the conversation could be overheard...

No 1: Two white dudes with short cropped hair both wearing black tops with tan cargo pants, Toughbook laptop. Booking photos in the screen,. The guy they were questioning was dressed frumpy, in poorly fitting clothes but try to look "cool". He was constantly looking around and looked miserable.

No 2 Ten there's the conversation. Questions where "Is this X?", "Tell us what he said., "He asked you to do what?_. Etc. Etc.

Maybe he wasn't an informant but a witness?
